Understanding Early Warning ("Something Changed") Detection

Early Warning compares each student's own recent record against their own recent past - it never compares students to each other, and it never makes a medical or behavioral diagnosis.

What it checks

• Attendance drop - the last two weeks' attendance rate against the previous six weeks'.
• Performance drop - the last few graded assessments against the ones before them.
• Year-over-year attendance - this year's attendance so far against the student's own most recent prior year, catching a slow decline that a short recent-vs-recent window alone might miss.

What happens when something is flagged

An intervention record is created (visible under Early Warning) with the real numbers behind the flag, e.g. "Attendance dropped from 91% to 62%." A staff member can assign it, add notes, and resolve it - the system surfaces the signal, a person decides what it means.
